New album: The Sky above Rome

These photos attempt to discover the unique relationship between a townscape and its sky. Stripped of any dramatic weather conditions, a plain sky relates to its own setting, punctuated by fragments of architecture. Almost always a normal sky, almost always daytime, void of any spectacular moments. There are no sunrises or sunsets; no rainbows or storms, nor strange clouds. There is almost always an everyday sky, one that you can see in any ordinary moment. All you have to do is look upwards.

"Sometimes I go out to look at the sky. When I raise my eyes I’m immediately alone. If I look through the viewfinder, any peripheral interference disappears. There’s no one around. Rome becomes deserted, among thousands of people. Often I listen to music, closing myself off from noise, and then just the sight reminds me I’m in my own town, even though I just see some suspended fragments. Almost always suspended in blue, sometimes holding on to the clouds. The sky above Rome becomes all mine".
